Sorry for the delay in putting up the best news for soccer in Kansas City since HASF was started years ago, but we've all been celebrating too much!
It's not over, but the long-term future of professional soccer in Kansas City looks secure. The biggest hurdles have been cleared with only a couple remaining at the State level. We will be asking for your help as always.
Thanks to all of you who have responded to the calls for support for our primary mission of a world-class soccer stadium for the Wizards.
Once construction begins in Kansas City, HASF will be able move past their initial goals, and start to focus on other ways we might be able to help grow the beautiful game here.
Watch this space in the future for upcoming news and projects.

PROPOSED JOHNSON COUNTY YOUTH SOCCER PARK
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
1. Q: Why does Johnson County need additional soccer fields?
No child should be denied the opportunity to play soccer. Especially in a county that ranks as one of the Top 10 soccer communities per capita in the United States. Even so, the number of practice and game fields currently available in Johnson County falls significantly short of existing needs as evidenced by the poor conditions of these overused facilities. Last year, 19,000 games were played on the current inventory of 80 sub-standard fields. To be able to accommodate the growing needs of approximately 46,000 youth between the ages of 4 and 18 who already enjoy the benefits of soccer in Johnson County, a minimum of 20 fields must be constructed as soon as possible.
2. Q:Who will be the primary users of the youth Soccer Park?

Commissioners Toplikar and Lindstrom invite public to talk soccer and have a cold treat
Category: News from HASF
Posted: July 19, 2005
Johnson County Commissioners John Toplikar and David Lindstrom have announced that they will host an informal reception concerning a proposed professional soccer stadium and facility to be built in a yet-unspecified Johnson County location.
The commissioners are inviting anyone (coaches, players, league directors, etc.) and the general public interested in learning more about the concept.
The reception will be held Wed, July 20, from 2pm to 4pm at the Johnson County Administration Building, 111 S. Cherry, Third floor, in the Board of County Commissioners hearing room.
Commissioners Toplikar and Lindstrom recently secured support from their fellow commissioners in a public vote to help fund an update of the original 2002 feasibility study.
The proposal envisions a 22,000 seat soccer stadium (expandable to 40,000 seats) with an accompanying 30 soccer fields capable of hosting regional and national tournaments on a 500 acre site. The retail component of the complex is projected to facilitate upwards of 1.2 million square feet of retail space.
Commissioner Lindstrom said that he has received numerous phone calls regarding the identity of the unnamed potential team owner of the Wizards who is funding a large share of the study’s cost, along with other questions about the potential use of the proposed Johnson County stadium. He said this would be a great opportunity for the public to learn more.

To all supporters of the Kansas City Wizards:
As you know, these have been trying times for fans of the Wizards. The success on the field has been mixed with uncertainty for the team's future in Kansas City. The Heart of America Soccer Foundation has been actively developing contacts within the community, working to do whatever we can to keep the Wizards in Kansas City, with their own, soccer-appropriate facility.
